Our Next Selection?

Students – thanks for the engaging conversation concerning The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind.  One of the interesting thoughts which was expressed surrounded the amazing perseverance of William…denied the education he so badly wanted because he couldn’t pay his tuition, he goes to a tiny library and sifts through three shelves of books to educate himself.

I couldn’t help but think of those students who sit in the classroom completely disengaged with their arms crossed, almost as if saying, go ahead…see if you can make me learn.  Compare that attitude with William’s and you begin to understand the sentiment of some of our conversations from last week.

Here are some of the titles we’re considering for our next book:

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The Winter of Our Discontent by John Steinbeck

The Man from Beijing by Henning Mankell

The Innocent Man by John Grisham
